Join Vale's office administrator and lifelong cemetery enthusiast Paula Lemire for a walk through Vale's historic landscape based on the original 1857 map and early photographs. It will be an exploration of some of the hidden gems of The Vale and the rural cemetery movement.
The tour will be held on the Sunday before Vale's 168th anniversary and will include a stop at Consecration Grove.
This walk will start at the Caretaker's Cottage (State Street gate) and proceed down into The Vale. The tour will include hills and unpaved areas so please wear appropriate footwear, bug spray might recommended depending on the weather, and be prepared to walk! It will run approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
$10 per person at the door.
Tours, unless otherwise noted, start at 2 p.m. from the Caretaker's Cottage adjacent to the main entrance on State Street.
There is ample parking available and due to the size of the cemetery/park a shuttle bus is used. There is a $10 donation requested with children under 12 free.
