Special Events and Tours - 2017

We are beginning our 2017 tour and special event season.

Public tours of Vale Cemetery and Park are on the 1st Sunday of the month (except where noted) from May-October. Tours start at 2 p.m. from the Caretaker's Cottage adjacent to the main entrance on State Street. There is ample parking available and due to the size of the cemetery/park a shuttle bus is used.

There is a $7 donation requested with children under 12 free.

Special Events at Vale Cemetery and Park

Memorial Day Ceremonies – May 29, 2017 at 10am.  Memorial Day was Inaugurated shortly after the Civil War to heal the national wounds of war and Vale Cemetery began its Memorial Day Ceremonies shortly thereafter.

Juneteenth – Friday, June 16. Celebration of the Emancipation Proclamation ending slavery in the United States. A program of song and Oratory commemoration of African Americans interred in Vale. This includes members of U.S. Colored Troops (Union Army), Underground Railroad figures and a runaway slave who became a prominent Schenectady businessman.

Sunday, November 5 - WWI  100th Anniversary (Professor Thomas Kelly Siena College)
